Minneapolis Electricians With The Experience To Expertly Diagnose And Solve Common Residential Electrical Problems

e 200Edison Electric has been enjoying the privilege of providing expert residential electrical service in Minneapolis, MN since 2006. We call it a privilege because we believe it to be a fact; that Minneapolis is the greatest city in the world. We have earned our solid reputation for service in Minneapolis by providing fast, on-time electrical repairs and making knowledgeable recommendations to our customers.

It has been written that the first house completely wired for electricity in Minneapolis was a colonial style home in the uptown area back in 1922. An abundance of pre-1950’s era Minneapolis homes means that providing professional residential electrical repair and installation services in Minneapolis requires relevant experience to diagnose old and new wiring in the same home.

When we perform our safety inspections, it is common for us to find new wiring in the basement and old, original knob and tube wiring in the attic. Knob and tube wiring in an attic is a common safety concern in Minneapolis, which can easily be overlooked by the untrained eye.

Such was the case with this home on 3rd street in Northeast Minneapolis. Our customer, Jonathan, bought this home in 2011 and Edison Electric was brought in for the electrical portion of a complete home renovation.

Although the wiring in the basement and on the first level appeared newer, our safety inspection uncovered a fair amount of knob and tube wiring in the attic.

On this project, installing new insulation in the attic was a top priority for Jon, which meant a complete replacement of the knob and tube wiring. Knob and tube wiring cannot be placed in direct contact with thermal insulation because it diminishes the wires capacity to dissipate heat and creates a fire hazard.

In addition to rewiring the knob and tube circuits, we also replaced his fuse panel with a circuit breaker panel, rewired his kitchen, added arc-fault protection and installed an interconnected smoke/CO2 alarm system.

So whether you have a circuit breaker tripping, a ceiling fan that needs replacing or you need your fuse box replaced, having an electrician who knows what to look for in Minneapolis neighborhoods is definitely an advantage.
